Happy New Year Everyone!!
Unfortunately neither Santa or the new year brought snow. But don't let the weather get you down. We've had lots of years where we haven't started skiing until late January and ended up having a great year skiing into April. If you do need a bit of a boost check out the World Cup Tour de Ski results. The Canadians Devon Kershaw and Alex Harvey are burning up the courses. Kershaw has 2 silvers and a gold (only the third Canadian to win a World cup event) so far. the other's being ivan Babikov also racing in this years tour and Pierre Harvey (Alex's Dad) who won a gold in 1987.
Jackrabbit program
Lessons will not go ahead this weekend. We'll try for next weekend depending on the weather. Updates will be provided on the website.
Sprint Series
The Sprint series will start on January 20th at 6:30PM. The races will be held in Pippy Park. Registration is at 6:00PM in the North Banks Lodge. The first race will be skating.
Subaru Loppet
This race will take place on Feb. 6th and will be a pursuit format - classic followed immediately by skate.
More details on both races will be on the website shortly.
Website updates
We are currently revising our website. Please be patient as we transition from the old to new. If you have any comments or there are things that you would like to see displayed, please pass them along.
Trail Clearing
We're going to be taking advantage of the weather to do some last minute trail clearing. Butter Pot was hit quite hard by the winds and rain over Christmas so there are a substantial amount of trees down that will need to be removed. If you can help out please join us at the Clubhouse in Butter Pot Park this Saturday at 10:00. The gate will be closed but unlocked. Please close it again after entering the Park.
We will also be doing some trimming at Pippy Park this Sunday starting at noon. Meet by the groomer building at the end of Nagles Rd (past the Fluvarium).
Hopefully you can make either or both sessions. If you can come please bring along any clippers, chainsaws or whatever weapons of destruction you have. Any changes to these times will be noted on the newsgroup.
See you on the trails. |
