With the weather starting to get colder and the occasional flurries in the sky it's time to start thinking about skiing!!
Membership
Membership and Skill Development Program (Bunnies, jackrabbit, Track Attack and Challenge Group) registration for the 2011/12 season is up and running. Memberships are available for a reduced rate until Dec. 15th. We are using Zone4 again this year.
Events
There are two events planned for this fall - the first is The Outfitter's Annual Winter Ski Swap - Nov. 26th and 27th held at the Outfitter's on Water Street. This is always a very popular event and a great way to sell and purchase used ski gear. This also acts as a fundraiser for the club with a small percentage of the sales donated.
The second event is the Annual Members Appreciation Day - Dec 7th. Throughout the day the Outfitter's will be offering special deals just for Avalon Nordic Ski Club Members.
Challenge Group
The Challenge Group isn't waiting for snow. Training occurs every Weds evening and Sunday morning. There is still room for new members if you are 13+ and interested skiing fast. For more details please contact Avalon Nordic Ski Club Head Coach Andrew Casey. For those already attending training and have yet to register - membership is now due and required for insurance purposes.
Trail Work
Now for the fun stuff - we will be heading out to Butter Pot Park this Sunday to start work on the trails(Nov 6th 9:30AM - meet at the Clubhouse - the gate will be closed but unlocked). Activities will include brush cutting and digging a draining ditch along the wetter portion of Taylor's Trail. Although less than glamorous this is important to ensure we can take advantage of any snow we get. Please consider lending a hand.
Hope to see you on Sunday and if not see you on the snow. |
